Barbara May, RN Named Hospital's 2011 Mercy Award Winner

6/28/2011

We all have 24 hours in a day. But precious few make those 24 count as much as Barbara May, an RN in the Women's Center at Spring View Hospital.

As a nurse, her listening ear and attentiveness to her patients’ needs consistently earn Barbara a special place in their hearts, whether she’s helping a first-time mother learn to breastfeed or a new father change his first diaper. Simply walking to the cafeteria frequently leads to a helping gesture, says one coworker. Barbara’s goal: to make sure patients, visitors and family members alike feel welcomed, cared for and appreciated for choosing Spring View.

In her community, Barbara can be found volunteering her time for Lion’s Club, Red Hat Society, Relay for Life, Ham Days, Historical Society, March of Dimes, Water Board and Homemakers Club. She’s active in her church and leads many committees and fundraisers there. She loves the opportunity to learn something new. And her inspiring spirit is contagious to everyone she meets.

Anyone who meets Barbara has not only met an admirable woman but has gained a friend for life!
